Was a very educational experience, lots of wonderful artwork, artifacts and sculptures. Museum is very well kept, staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Great place to bring the family and friends, if you’re in Athens area this is one museum you don’t want to miss. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

The museum deals mainly with the revolutionary period and the creation of the Greek state. Very little on Ancient Greece.

really informative and enjoyed it, but i would recommend the following: asking people to be quiet and take their stuff to put in lockers, organizing the pieces according to themes, translate more text, invest in technology (it would have made the experience richer and more memo such as the timeline of rulers), showcase the ottoman flags; the fact that it is folded makes it difficult to read what's on them or even recognize it, or maybe that was intentional lol.

If you love history you must see this museum! A very well documented and easy to follow (once you find the beginning) account of Hellenic history. Focusing on the 1500s onwards and specifically covering the many conflicts between Greece and Turkey.

A very good collection of weapons, paintings and maps. The well written panels that make the history easy to follow especially the panels on the doorways introducing the contents of the next room.

It is also free on a Sunday!

Excellent stop on an Athens museum tour. There is a hall that was the former parliament hall that you can walk inside and visit. The whole building is a historic site. There are two stories and the second floor has mostly graphic exhibits. However, the first floor has lots of rooms with historic objects and clothing. The history covered is about the modern Greek state. There admission was a few euros.

Interesting museum documenting Greek history up until WWII. The highlight is the old Parliament House.

The only criticism I have is that the exhibits were not arranged in any logical order. If they were arranged in chronological order it would have made a lot more sense.

Impressive neoclassical historical building, it was the old parliament. What is exposed inside is certainly more interesting for Greek nationals than tourists, but the building itself is worth visiting. Close to the city center, next to everything. Several parking places around, but one of the biggest and cheaper is the one at Kotzia square which is now managed by the Athens city hall.
