Great spot if you are into insects and isopods! Had a great interaction with an adorable jumping spider that was fascinated by me for some reason. Would highly recommend.
Amazing gem of a place for anyone interested in entomology! Although the physical space is small, it is absolutely packed with an impressive variety of insects and we (2 bug-loving adults) were easily able to spend a full hour exploring and learning from the owner and the two young volunteers, who all had a wealth of knowledge about every single one of the creatures there. I've always been a huge fan of ants and spiders, but came away from this place with a new appreciation for mantises and isopods. Very impressed and will definitely be back!
I went to visit the Insectarium with some friends and their young kids on a Sunday. It was a great time. It's a small space so maybe plan on leaving strollers in the car if possible. The Insectarium is inside of a shared space called the milieu collective so you know for your potential visit.
The friendly and knowledgeable staff were able to help me appreciate the many beautiful small terrarium exhibits with all sorts of exotic insects around the room. They also had some great kid or even an adult bug nerd friendly bins to hold some insects over. In fact we ended up staying a bit longer because my friends kids wanted to hold more cool bugs. I highly recommend a visit to the Portland insect zoo.

Highly recommended for the insect lover. Lots of insects. You can ask questions and even hold some of them. I found out how to tell if a tarantula wants to be held. Next time, perhaps I will be brave enough to actually hold one! Also we went on a Thursday and paid $5 for the entire group.
Place was super small and cluttered with very low ceilings (beware tall people). There were many cool bugs, but place is so small and cramped hard to view them all. They also charge $5 to hold some of the bugs…owner was super friendly and knowledgeable. Entry fee seems a lot for what you get.
I thought it might be too small to be of much interest when checking the website but it was great! While the place is small there is enough to keep it interesting. The proprietor of the place was there to show us several of the insects and talk about them.
Wow, what a great spot. Plenty of bugs to look at and even hold upon request! The staff were knowledgeable and welcoming, and masks are still required- which I am so grateful for as someone with a health condition. It's all in one room, and I had hoped it was a little bigger but it was still so worth a visit. It's geared a little more towards kids than adults, but I didn't mind- it was really great to see kiddos being taught that insects aren't scary and are actually pretty cool. Lots of hands on activities for kids for how small of a space it is. I really hope they are able to stay open. Please visit this month (July 2022) to help the exhibit stay open!
P.S. there's discounted admission on Thursdays!

Had an awesome visit! Highly recommend to anyone who has bug-interested kids. Lots of bugs that you can touch and hold, and the person who runs it is super helpful, kind, and informative. It's not huge, but it's perfect for when you just need to get out of the house and DO something. My kid was sad the whole way home that we had to leave, and kept asking when we could "go visit the bugs again".
