White Playground
I was born (1955) and raised there until 1970 on 106 & Lex. It has changed immensely. What a huge improvement. The playground has had a complete overall except for the very spacious handball and basketball courts.
I returned this year for the 39th ANNUAL 106 STREET OLD TIMERS gathering. Which is held on the second Saturday of August. It was so much fun. The live music was amazing. And not some little band, closer to a small orchestra. I loved it and dance until I couldn’t anymore then rested and did it all over again. Not bad for a 67 year old…,
All in all I had a ball.
Thanks go out to the president of the 106 STREET OLD TIMERS, David Hernandez, who has worked tirelessly for the past 39 plus years to organize the event. And that makes White Park the place to be every second Saturday in August.
