It would've been a shame if they didn't do their namesake justice...but they absolutely knocked it out of the park! Excellent Kouign Amann with a crispy sweet exterior and flaky buttery interior. Would've loved to also try their croissants but they sell out quick!
Hidden gem alert and the BEST honey cake I've ever had. We took a break from sightseeing near the Edinburgh castle to use the wc and have a coffee and thank God we did because this place blew our minds. All we ordered were a cortado and a (Russian) honey cake but the quality and flavours of those two items really blew us away. The honey cake was heavenly and spongy with a creamy smooth interior contrasted with a sweet nutty exterior topping. The coffee was made perfectly without any bitterness and had fruit notes of apricot and honeysuckle. Overall, if you are in Edinburgh do yourself a favor and please make sure to check this place out!
Wow! Best mussels in the city hands down. Mussels are cooked in a cream white wine sauce with garlic and it was absolutely addictive. Moreover, the cleanliness of the mussels was also spot on as there weren't any sandy surprises waiting for us in our mouths. The scallops, langoustine, and haggis bons bons were good too and worth a try as well! Lastly, we also had the pork belly which wasn't as crispy as we would've liked and came in a more gelatinous texture but the taste was still wonderfully umami without having any funkiness to it. Overall, great seafood and service in the heart of downtown Edinburgh!
Welcoming neighborhood bakery producing some of the most flavorful and high quality breads, pastries, and cookies in Montreal. As we stood in line we noticed that this place was quite popular amongst the locals with many of them ordering the baguettes and other freshly baked breads (some of them were taking huge bites of their baguettes as soon as they stepped outside the bakery!) We ordered their croissant, chocolatine, chocolate chip cookie, and their cardamom bun. I would say that their cardamom buns and cookies are MUST-TRIES; the bun was similar to a cinnamon bun but had a hint of wildly spiced cardamom and a sweet glaze topped with crystallized sugar on top, while the chocolate chip cookie was made with molasses to give it a chewy soft inside and delectably crunchy exterior. The croissants were also good and were generously embedded with butter and dark chocolate-filling in the chocolatine. Overall, 100% a must-try when you're in Montreal looking for sublime traditional French baked goods!!
