This pier used to be used as a parking lot for vehicle at the adjacent ConEd plant, but was completely rebuilt a few years ago. It is a large expanse of a concrete pier that is entirely devoid of trees but there are numerous benches along the perimeter that provide excellent views of the East River and the Long Island City waterfront.
This newly renovated public plaza reopened in June 2019. It contains lots of seating areas including benches and tables with removable chairs. There is also a children's play area and a small sculpture. It is a lot more open than the previous public plaza, which had the remnants of the prior ice skating rink that occupied the site.
This plaza is located adjacent to the two towers of the American Copper Buildings and features a wading pool with interactive fountains and water sprayers features that are popular with children. The park is crisscrossed by diagonal paths and has plantings along the periphery with seating areas facing inward.
