The Farmer in the Deli is actually a convenience store that is well known for its chopped sandwiches. It is so well known that the line sometimes stretches from the deli counter all the way around the store and even outside, so plan for a wait when you go. Trust me, it is well worth the wait!

You can order any combination of ingredients they sell for your sandwich with one very important difference from most delis - you can pick anything from the store isles, give it to them, and they will put it into your sandwich. So, if you like a certain flavor chip, or anything else, for that matter, they will incorporate it into your sandwich.

The meat and cheese are all freshly cut and assembled into a pile along with your desired items. When everything has been added they start chopping, and chopping until all the ingredients are blended perfectly. The freshly chopped pile is then put on your choice of fresh bread.

The wait goes by quickly and the sandwiches are well worth the wait because they are unique and tasty. It is for that reason and because the staff were very friendly, I am giving them 5-stars.

The food here was very disappointing.

We read the reviews and researched this place. On paper it looked like a place in line with what we really enjoy.

The restaurant is beautiful. The staff was amazing. The food, quite honestly, was just not that good at all.

We ordered two appetizers: tuna tartare and meatballs. The presentation of both dishes was beautiful, but the taste did not match the look.

The tuna tartare was flat, and tasteless, overwhelmed by the over-sized portion of avocado. The meatballs tasted like an old dish rag. The marinara sauce was almost flavorless. Even the breadbasket with small scraps of bread and a tasteless spread was underwhelming.

We decided not to stay for the main course. I can't remember the last time we've done that.

Bottom line - the place is very nice. The service was great, but you go to a restaurant for good food. This place just doesn't have it.

Go somewhere else.

I arrived at 5pm, almost an hour and fifteen minutes before my scheduled reservation. Having come early the restaurant was nearly empty. To my surprise I was given one of the best tables in the whole place - one that looked over the beautiful beach and the Pacific Ocean.

My server explained the menu in detail as he drifted away to prepare my martini, with blue cheese olives, not too dirty. It seemed as if it was a perfect stat to a perfect dinner in a perfect table.

My New England clam chowder arrived piping hot. I've had many, many clam chowders in my life and this one was incredibly savory and full of bits of delicious clam.

My macadamia crusted mahi mahi arrived adorned with a chutney of tropical fruit that perfectly complimented the fish.

The only complaint I had was the wine choices in their cab selection. They all seemed very main line, nothing out of the ordinary or spectacular, which was a little of a disappointment for someone that likes red cabs like I do.

Preferring to drink my dessert I ordered a Sambuca. It arrived in the perfect snifter (Brandy) glass with the traditional 3 coffee beans -thank you for not skimping on that. The 3 beans are so important for those of us that drink Sambuca as a ritual.

Overall, the meal was excellent, the view was incredible, and the experience was something I would love to do again -and I will next time I'm in town.

Thank you, Chart House, for a memorable meal and thank the GM for coming over during my dinner to make sure I was happy. You all did a great job.

I travel all over the world and my thing is to seek out rooftop bars. There's nothing like a great view, with a fringe cocktail, and great music.

This place had a nice vibe but I agree with some of the other reviewers that it's a bit pretentious.

I was seated at the bar and after 15 minutes I had to find someone to take my drink order.

My mojito was actually pretty good. The music was so so and no secret ever smiled-ever- with one lady who's smile made up for all the frowns.

If I come back I may bring some younger people with me. Maybe that will get us some attention.

Located in the basement of the beautiful Hay-Adams hotel, this place is pretty classy. The atmosphere is definitely up scale, but not pretentious. Casual dress is just fine.

The drinks were excellent and they came with a trio of potato chips, really good jelly beans, and assorted olives.

The service was excellent and the cobb salad was very tasty.

A great place to stop after walking by the White House.
