Good Pho U

Yes, it is. Good Pho U is good for you. Walking into the restaurant brings back memories of Asian food centres. Tonight, I dined in and tried the #1 menu item. Roast beef pho is definitely a winner.

I have to say, it reminded me of the Pho in Saigon around the time the US embargo was lifted. I loved adding in the fresh herbs on the side, and when added in, the taste is so good.

The stock was well seasoned. You can add some fish sauce and other sauces to augment the umami, if needed. Add as much fresh chilli as you dare. I added it all and was glad there were boxes of tissues on the table.
Cafe et croissant si vu plait. A phrase that represented a year of learning French and saved me from starving at lunchtime in Paris. Eating the double baked almond croissant reminded me of my time in France, delicious.

The crispy croissant was balanced nicely with almond syrup. Twice baked croissants are not common and are, I dare say, unique in Adelaide. For an artisan patisserie, this place ticks the box. The coffee carried some bitterness, which went well with the sweetness of the syrup.

In addition to the croissant, the citrus tart was a lovely creamy texture. No crumbs were left on this plate either.

There is indoor and outdoor seating at this bakehouse. A lot of greenery adorns the interior and exterior. A pleasant place to relax and enjoy a time out from a busy schedule.
Tucked away from the main road, this cafe has the nicest outdoor garden seating; which becomes more shaded in the afternoon. Perfect for lunch.

Coffee was good, as was the toasted chicken breast with avocado and salami piadina. The palisade is made with flatbread.

In the picture, you can visualise the thickness of the avocado and chicken in the photo. It's a well-made sandwich that balances the bread.

On another occasion, the macadamia and chocolate brownie, some coffees, and a small bottle of champagne were perfect for an afternoon treat. Basecamp is still 5 stars.
It's such beautiful weather to sit outside at the Bakery Cafe. Coffee was good with snickers brownie and apple crumble. I would like to try the crumble again, heated up during winter. The bakery has expanded and has become a cafe over the years. It's great to be able to support their progress even though I live interstate.

Yesterday, I shared a plain and Cornish pasty and a sausage roll. All of it was yummy. Try it out.

On yet another occasion, I tried the caramel and peanut butter brownie. On tasting, you get a good hit of flavour from dark chocolate, then you're left with the sweetness of the caramel and peanut flavour. Yummy.
