We loved our meal at Anju! Excellent food - I love that they offer both traditional Korean dishes and items with a modern twist. Their fried chicken was phenomenal — and I’m not really a wings person, so you know my endorsement is serious. I would love to try their brunch menu as well, and I will certainly be back for dinner soon.
Filomena Ristorante
HAPPY RESTAURANT WEEK TO THOSE WHO CELEBRATE!
I was excited to try Filomena’s after hearing so much about it. After walking past it countless times I took advantage of restaurant week deals and ventured down the stairs to see what if Filomena’s lives up to the hype.
To be perfectly honest, we got pretty full off the bread and appetizers alone and struggled to eat much of the massive entrees and desserts. But Filomena’s encourages takeout! The food was good, the pasta was fresh. The handmade sausage on the rigatoni alla vodka was excellent. The arancini and it’s accompanying red sauce were delicious. That being said, the dishes were all heavy on the butter and cream, and some lacked the sophistication that I expected from an institution like Filomena’s. It was a fun experience (I felt like I was in a Godfather movie), and I am certainly glad I have tried it. But I am not sure I would have happily paid full price for the food I ate. But by no means a bad meal!!

Off the Record
Came here with coworkers after an event and it was a good time. I loved the vibes. All the political cartoons on the walls and the lighting made for a very fun DC vibe. Our server was super fun. I wasn’t drinking, but the food was decent! The Nashville chicken was good (a little spicy though?) and the short rib grilled cheese wasn’t very flavorful. But that’s why you probably shouldn’t eat the food at a bar unless you’re inebriated !!

the blueberry buckwheat pancakes were great. i usually go for french toast (my husband did) and I was happy I went with the pancakes. super moist and great taste. the french toast itself was just okay, but the apple cider syrup and cinnamon butter was pretty amazing. not a bad choice by any means. there was a line when we got there but it went quickly and seats freed up easily. loved the vibe !!
