Waste of money no upkeep of them at all! Yes would be better at night to hide all the faults with the sculptures!
I must admit this place is living off work done years ago. Shame as it could be good but there was nothing new or kept up when we went. I took one photo of the whole thing as everything else was cracked falling down etc. Hope they refurbish it soon as it could be a good place but still well over priced for it as it is!

It’s a shame that the original hippodrome structure no longer exists, however the Egyptian Obelisk is interesting but you will benefit from guided tour or read about it to enjoy the historical relevance of this place.
Travel by car to this location. If you're planning to have picnic by the beach, this is quite a worthwhile to see. It is within an enclosed area. Some nice looking sand structures mixed themes. To travel especially for this, might not be for everyone.
As far as the Hippodrome the only things that are left standing are the obelisks and the serpentine column. Other than that everything is gone. The shape of the plaza corelates to the od shape of the track but that's about it.
A nice plaza that has a few obelisks. Nothing really exists from the days of games.
Yedikule Hisar Is a fortress Museum with a best panoramic view of Istanbul. It is a must visit place in 2023 the ticket costs 100 Turkish lira.
A small but well preserved site. In Ankara, the best place to see Roman ruins. It also has an interesting view of the city and makes for a nice place to walk if the weather is good.
Yedikule Hisari or the Seven Towers Fortress in Istanbul. It was built in 1458 by Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II, aka Mehmed the Conqueror (1432-1481), five years after the conquest of Constantinople. It can be a clear indication that Mehmed was not sure that other states were not going to counterattack the city of his dreams. Fortress was built in the southwest corner of ancient Theidosian Walls of Constantinople and the Golden Gate built in IV-V centuries A.D. by Roman Emperors Theodosius I (347-395) and Theodosius II (401-450) and was incorporated in the structure of the city defense. There were only four Golden Gates for the entire history of mankind. They are the Golden Gates of Jerusalem, Constantinople, Kiev, and Vladimir. Already in the XV century, this fortress became the prison because Istanbul was never threatened to suffer foreign military invasion till XIXcentury. That's why sometimes it is named Yedikule Zindanlari. Among most noticeable prisoners were Sultan Osman II (1604-1622), who was executed here by Janissaries, Emperor David Megas Komnenos of Trebizond (1408-1463), King Simon I of Kartli (Eastern Georgia) (1537-1611) and entire Russian Embassy with Ambassador Alexei Obrezkov (1718-1787) were imprisoned here in 1768 when Russo-Turkish War of 1768-1774 started. Istanbul, 🇹🇷 Turkey 🇹🇷. May- November 2, 2023.
Einfach wow!
Out of the way but a great place to . The only reason for 3 stars was because quite a lot of the areas were blocked off for refurbishment, I assume for the centenary celebrations.entrace fee was cash only and .ocal currency. Very peaceful as not many people and the views from the top were great
Nice sandart work. It's good to see talent and support it. The inside is small and easy can be seen in under an hour. On the upside the beach area at the bottom is beautiful and peaceful. You can hire a normal beach bed for 100 lira or a private double bed with curtains for 200 lira per person.
Great outdoor area to hang around and walk about leisurely! Well, after all it used to be a social centre during the Byzantine Empire.
Today it is also the home of 2 important historical monuments, the Serpent column and the Obelisk of Thutmose III. So, highly recommended for history geeks.

Great open area for pedestrians -- no cars allowed, right in the heart of the ancient structures, with quite a few trees for shade.
While the monuments are interesting, if not all too amazing, they do have an incredible history to teach us about this area.

The Open Air Museum of Göreme is a fascinating place to visit if you are interested in the history and culture of Cappadocia. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that contains many rock-carved churches and monasteries from the Byzantine period. You can see the amazing frescoes that decorate the walls and ceilings of these structures, depicting scenes from the Bible and the lives of the saints. Some of the most famous churches in the museum are the Dark Church, the Apple Church, the Snake Church, and the Buckle Church.
The museum is located in the Göreme Valley, which is also full of other attractions such as caves, fairy chimneys, and tombs. You can explore the valley on foot, by bike, or by horseback. You can also join a guided tour to learn more about the history and architecture of the museum and the valley. The museum is open every day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and you need to buy a separate ticket for the Dark Church.
A good tip is to get a museum pass, you can use it all over Turkey.

It's a beautiful place but be prepared to do some serious hiking there's a few shops along the way to get water and to rest if needed but worth the time.
very old monument that even older than the ottoman empire
Impressive place, very scenic and many interesting cave rooms. Do not recommend to come in the summer. Not many shades during the walk. Audio guide available but it would have been a better experience if there are more signs to know which way to go first and follow the audio guide numbering.
Historical place . The meydani is full with lots of tourists and tour groups
The place is very good, quiet and clean. Restoration is continuing but you can visit and see some parts of the castle. It's free if you reserve early otherwise it's paid.
A splendid place rich in sand designs and sculptures. There is so much to observe and take pictures of. The different sand sculptures have been designed and inaugurated by different people from different countries.
You can buy entrance tickets at the entrance. There is a restroom and a mini-store to buy snacks. There is ample parking outside.
The place isn’t crowded always. Expect to spend 1-2 hours here.

The view inside the valley is breathtaking. I forgot to take pictures of it actually 🤦♂️. People did kind of ruin some of the experience by leaving trash inside the caves. We visited on a photo shoot and there were several other groups taking turns taking photos for all kinds of event and even 2 weddings! If you have time it’s a great place to check out.
A great place to visit and get a feel for the cave houses and history of the area.
Easy to access and get around with information boards as well.
Some very nice artwork in some of the churches.

Superb!! Superb!! Superb!!
We absolutely loved the Goreme Open air museum. Along with the unique geographical structures, it amazed us how the people in ancient times made it their home. There were multiple churches, living quarters of the monks and nuns, dining halls and the most extraordinary wall paintings.

Really nice place to walk around and learn the history and culture of the region . Some amazing cave churches with well preserved frescoes. One thing is the weather needs to be suitable as it’s open air also when we were there some of the caves were closed

The place is nice and easy to see. Free of charge with tour on weekends if you register beforehand and only 25 TL for students otherwise. However, most of the place is under restoration. Even the towers you can enter are only partially accessible.
It cost 40lyras to get in and it’s quite pretty, you can tour it fast but it’s still a nice piece of history!
What a phenomenal settlement. Until 1960, this was a settlement with fifteen Byzantine-era cave churches. Walking paths allow easy access to these churches. If you are more like me who likes to climb everywhere and discover everything, this is the place to go. I had a wonderful time.
Fascinating place to visit. You need to be fit as there’s a lot of climbing. A must see if you’re in Cappadocia.
The Zelve Open Air Museum is among the earliest-settled and last-abandoned monastic valleys in Cappadocia. Compares with the more famous Goreme Open Air Museum, Its churches are not as many, but the best thing that Zelve offers that Goreme does not is the valleys ~ three valleys; of which two are connected by a tunnel, of abandoned homes and churches converge in a meandering 1,5 kilometres of sightseeing. its sinewy valley walls with rock antennae that are wonderfully picturesque places for explore around. In Cappadocia must do list, highly recommended! Museum pass included enter ticket, just need to pay small parking fee, Not suitable for small children and the elderly!
Great view for marmaray sea and cityscape of Istanbul old town. Reasonable ticket price(100TL). Some areas are under renovation now. But main tower still opens for going up.
A few cave museums are there. Dark museum is the best restored one. But it will charge additional. Try to get an audio guide to understand in detail. Near to love valley. You can trek through love valley to reach the open air museum.
Can you imagine people were still living here until 1965? The last resident didn't want to move until one of their children passed away because of rock slide.
As crazy as it sounds, I can understand why they didn't wanna leave. I mean, why would they? With that view that you can see everyday, a vast spread of magnificent rosey hued rocks and ancient structures, this place has a soul.
Spare some extra hour to hike to all available spot. The pictures are gonna be worth it.

It's an incredible place, they carved the rocks and made a city. I think it is one of the best places to see in Cappadocia.
One of the hidden gems in Istanbul! It's a very cheap museum (100TL) and you are able to explore virtually the entire fortress. See the golden gate, walk around the area in front of it, enter the dungeons, climb to the top of the wall and get a panoramic view of the area and the Marmara. Simply fantastic and worth the time.
The fortress is still in renovation, but the few chambers that you can access are well preserved and authentic. You can also climb to the top and the view up there is stunning. In my opinion, it's better than the one you get to see from the Galata Tower. The entrance is rather inexpensive (100 TL), and since you get to see a fortress and a view that is better than the one from Galata (the entrance there is 350 TL), I think it well deserves the price. It's honestly way underrated. I think I only saw 2 other people the entire time I was visiting it.
It's a good panoramic view. Nothing else. There is a valley near by that looks like it has a small creek to walk along.
This place is a complete tourist trap. It's a small site and several things are closed off. The entrance fee is 300 Lira plus 25 for parking. The Dark Church (the reason I came) costs 100 extra but you don't know that until after you've paid your entrance fee and you arrive at the church. There are much better (and cheaper) places.
I visited in the middle of April and the weather was perfect. It's 150 Lira to get in but that also covers Pasabaga.
It's not a huge site but there are tons of caves and a few churches. One still has very visible remnants of the frescos.
It's a little off the beaten path so less tourists which I always enjoy.

Completed in 330 for Constantine the Great, this U-shaped racetrack once seated 30,000 spectators in 40 rows of seats along its 400m length and 120m width. It was one of the largest Hippodromes of the Roman empire after Circus Maximus in Rome.
Little remains of the site today, and it is now known as Sultan Ahmet square in front of the Sultan Amet (Blue) Mosque.
The only thing that remains are three monuments that lined the Spina, the center divider of the track, as trophies brought from conquered lands of the far flung empire.
The Egyption obelisque was brought by the Byzantine emporer in 390 BC from the Amon temple of Karnak, where it had been riginally erected in 1490 BC.
The Serpentine column brought by Constantine the Great in 360 from Delpi, where it was erected in 479 BC to comerate a Greek victory over the Persians.
The column of Constatine was built on site and later repaired by Emporer Constantine VII.

This is a cute and cheap stop in ankara with so many headstones and a view on what used to be a roman bath. I would say it takes you maximum an hour to tour the place, but it is close by to other attractions and for only 20 lira, so definitely worth a visit.
The site has improved during the past couple of years, and there seems to be a Visor Centre/ Exhibit of sorts being built.
My recommendations for this site would be to improve customer relations. Being shouted at by your door staff doesn't really endear me to continue brining custom to this site.
Also, I understand some staff have a snooze behind the trees, fair play to them, but it doesn't inspire me with confidence when I See a half dozen members of staff sleeping under the trees next to displays. It completely lacks professionalism.
Have a bit more info for the displays. Instead of saying "Roman Gravestone" have something describing what's said on the gravestone, if possible give us more info.
There's a lot of potential for this site to be a great Historical Attraction, however they need to take customer relations more seriously and not having their staff having a kip during broad daylight.

We stumbled across this place as we were at a nearby mall, the area has a park with the Science Centre, an Automobile museum, and a small Minicity a few minutes walk away. We enjoyed the museum with our young kids and showed them the kinds of toys we used to play with.
The museum also has a playground with some characters which my youngest daughter loved like Elsa and Masha. The museum also has a cafe but it wasn't open at the time. Facilities were clean and staff was friendly.

It is in an old nursery building of the old weaving factory campus. This Anatolian Toy Museum belongs to the most visited museums in Türkiye.
It was opened in 2017 and has won 4 awards so far.
The museum houses over 13 thousand toyes collected from 81 provinces of Türkiye as well as from 16 European countries.
Visit this place if you want to move to your childhood memories..

I absolutely loved this place. It’s a large space where you can walk around the ruins of the baths complex and they have a huge collection of grave stones in multiple languages from multiple centuries (I realize not everyone is into that but I am!). Plus a variety of other statues, sarcophagi, and other interesting things to look at. Also great views of the city. For the price it’s definitely worth a visit.
For a mere 20 Turkish lira (July 2022) you can experience these Roman ruins of the ancient bathhouse and sports area. It's packed with pieces of columns and gravestones from Roman times, Ottoman times and more including stones with Hebrew writing, Greek and Roman. The 2 gates on a quiet road were locked but the main entrance is on the other side on a more major road. WCs and tree shaded benches available.
This place is very cool! I would love to visit this place again if I have a chance to travel to Turkey. It's quite easy to buy the ticket but I had the meseum pass which is very easy to get inside the place.
The hippodrome is an unassuming monument at first glance especially because it’s surrounded by the imposing architectural structures like the Hagia Sofia and the blue mosque. But when you read the history about the Obelisk you would be astonished. It was one of my favourite places in Istanbul and I had the pleasure of being there early in the morning before the crowds started coming in. Throughly enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommend going there as early as possible. Besides the monument it’s also a great place to unwind and relax during the day. It has amenities like ATMs and Toilets. There are some shops selling food and drinks.
Good toy museum with a nice garden for kids to play. Not so big, easy with little kids too.
Extremely beautiful place!!! There is a lot of places to walk and it's full of almond trees and much more. Best time to visit is spring!
Breathtaking
The Hippodrome strangely enough was my favorite attraction in Istanbul. This, and the nearby serpent column, both stick out like a sore thumb among the many beautiful mosques. They truly are remnants of the past and a testament to the city’s ancient roots. I only wish more of the monuments were preserved. Here’s to hoping that our children will be able to enjoy them in at least the same glory as they enjoy today.
Nice and cosy place to spend an hour of your time. Not only kids will be interested: adults are also might find some nostalgic fun recalling their childhood.

Plenty of Roman artefacts on a backdrop of Ankara’s urban landscape. Great view points constructed over the Roman baths and a good amount of explanatory signs. Was surprised to see only one more visitor during an hour spent there. The visit is definitely worth a few liras (less that 10) I paid. In the UK, a visit to such Roman baths would cost times more...
Small open air museum. It can be seen in about an hour. The center feature is a Roman bath. It can be viewed from four sides. There is also a tomb and a collection of headstones and other stone objects. Good value for the 7 lira entry fee.
This is an open air museum which can accessed by public. It is located very close to Sultanahmed Camii (Blue Mosque). In Roman era, this place was a public arena for horse races. As been told by my tour guide, there are a lot of stories and facts about this place. The most interesting thing is a monument of Obelisk which brought from Egypt. This obelisk approximately already 3500 years old and still in good condition.
A nice collection of toys throughout the ages, displayed in creative rooms. Lots to see, for the kids to see what their parents played with and for the parents to reminisce about their youth.
Too bad none of the plentiful information is in English. Income is only 1trl tough, so don't let that stop you.
In the garden is a big playground for the children to get rid of their energy while the parents sip a coffee at the bar.

Very clean and well put. it is a journey to the childhood I'd say.
