Japan-Restaurant Manyo

I honestly can’t understand the 4 or even 5 star ratings. Manyo is a mediocre experience - at best. The whole restaurant feels dated, the food is nothing you wouldn’t be able to accomplish at home and there are various no-go‘s. The restaurants floor is slippery because of all the fat steam as the ventilation is either not active or simply not able to suck all the cooking’s air out properly. Don’t plan to go anywhere after dining there as all your clothes including jackets stored in the entry hall will smell of oil and food. While the fish and meat may be fresh, we got ours just placed under the stove for about half an hour - raw fish and meat without any cooling. Preparation is unspectacular and gets so much pepper you won’t taste anything than the pepper itself. Shouldn’t japanese cuisine highlight the ingredients themselves? Our stove also had isolation material on the side being broken and older food was still visible in the crack. On the „show / live cooking part“ of it, it could be easily skipped. There is a kids fire brigade car doing some siren while dessert is served. Besides that it would be fine to just have all prepared in the kitchen and served from there. Our service tried hard but by no means was professional at all (nearly put sauce over us while taking away plates, grabbing spoons on the tip). You can spend your 50 bucks better if you go somewhere else.

Absolutely loved the food! This is how Japanese food restaurants should be! The staff was warm, welcoming, and entertaining.

The service was fantastic and our food was so tasty we ate everything served to us and left stuffed. Very much satisfied.

Also there’s parking spaces in front of the restaurant.

My SO and I celebrated his birthday there, the staff was very friendly and VERY cautious about my allergies which made me feel safe.
The food is incredible, everything is made right in front of you on your table's grill accommodated with lovely chefs who are true masters of the art. Could not recommend this enough, we are already planning to come back!

Since years I go from time to time to Manyo especially since it is one of the few real Japanese restaurants in the area.

The owner are great, they are always very nice and thoughtful as well as the service is always good. We had this time a menu and it was just delicious and fresh. Everthing is cooked freshly and you have the real Japanese flavour which is very importat and rare in Germany.
From the starters until the dessert event was tasty and I would totally recommend the place.

I loved it! We were a group of 12 people and despite that the service was great. The food was tasty and well presented.

Although not so many staff in this restaurant but the meals never ceased to surprise us! The omelets are really authentic and tasty, food portion is bigger than expected, and sometimes the Chef would entertain us with some fun performance on tepanyaki. Glad we have such a nice Japanese restaurant to go in Augsburg!

This is the one and only provide Japanese teriyaki in Augsburg. I know how difficult to establish an real true Asia food in Europe is. Of course the Teriyaki is not good and rich enough compare to those in Taiwan and Japan, because this is such a common food over there, but I give it credit for the contribution they make in this town.
