We just adopted our cat Neo and had a great experience with Anjellicle! At first we were nervous because of the negative reviews but our adoption process went very smoothly. Anjellicle really seemed to care about their cats and wanted to make sure they went to good homes (hence the required references, seminar, and virtual home visit). Special thanks to Neo's foster parent who was a huge help to us as we are first time cat parents. Would recommend Anjellicle to anyone looking to adopt!
Please be careful… this is my second review, as I had to take down my first one due to a response from the owner where my personal information (information I put on the adoption application) was mentioned PUBLICLY! I had reached out via email multiple times, called, etc. no response was given and the owner did not take down the response. Had to delete my initial review to protect my identity/ remove my personal information. I thought it was strange, as not one other review has a response. I did just notice one, it was quite passive aggressive and unprofessional - but no personal information was shared. Anyway, I had gotten approved for the adoption but decided not to go through with it because of the invasiveness of these people. I have never experienced this elsewhere. You need to provide 2 references minimum - professional and personal. Very odd to need a professional reference in this case, but I was willing to comply. Also included a family member which informed me that the person asked extremely uncomfortable questions that I had already answered in my adoption application. As a young woman, they seemed to not believe that I own my apartment.. very very invasive questions - my mother was shocked! In addition, they require you to participate in a 75 min adoption seminar about cat care REGARDLESS of your knowledge and experience. I currently own a cat and have my whole life.. I explained that I am well versed in this area but they insisted that it was required. On top of this, they require a virtual home visit. Seemed odd to have a home inspection. As mentioned in my previous review, do not adopt from here if you’re a cat owner! These people will drive you nuts, invade your privacy, and/ or respond to reviews with confidential information (ILLEGAL). The whole experience was strange and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. These poor kittens/ cats are missing out on genuine, good home because of how painful it is to deal with these unprofessional, passive aggressive people.
They were a pleasure to work with in adopting my Mickey. The only negative I have is that I had questions after the adoption and I never really got a response to them. Otherwise, great experience and highly recommend.
There's kind and devoted, and then there's unreasonable and controlling. These people struck me as the latter. I have been a pet parent since 1977, longer than most of these people have been alive. Now, I understand fosters become attached to their cats and want to make sure they go to a good home, but they already know they have them temporarily. To have home visits and to scrutinize people and behave so invasively towards people is unreasonable and unfortunately is a turn-off from choosing Anjellicle. Unfortunately, until they adjust their overly controlling behaviors towards people, and unfortunately, it's the cats who will suffer, as they will miss out on good, loving, stable homes because of the misjudgments of personnel who may love cats, but are inexperienced in dealing with potential pet parents and practical, proper caring of cats.
Seems many can't see it, but they appear to be corrupt. It is quite possible they're expecting a bribe. An honest and impartial investigation should get to the bottom of this.

I adopted my first two cats 13 years ago from Anjellicle and they were amazing then. One cat passed recently and I was interested to adopt again through this rescue. They definitely have a thorough process for background checks, the required seminar, virtual home cat proof check and application. Those things are great to see a rescue place take seriously.
I was unfortunately disappointed in the adoption process this time, looks like new people working there and the communication, overall experience was horrible.
I was allowed to trial two kittens, i had an allergy to one or both cats, there was a strong odor with one. The other cat was scared, I couldn’t touch him or go near him, appeared traumatized, it was really strange-I kept asking what happened to him and all they could say is nothing, he’s had 3-4 foster homes. When I asked for the kittens to be picked up, the foster mom and admin person changed their tone with me. The foster mom was rude, disrespectful to me in my own home and yelled, mishandled the kittens trying to get them into their carriers. She very aggressive with them, told them she was going to be and then was angry towards me. Unacceptable behavior, communication and my entire apt was a mess because of her, I felt so bad for those kittens. That’s why the cat is traumatized and it’s disturbing to witness. The admin didn’t even respond to my text message or followup. The foster mom seemed to want to leave the one scared cat behind until I told her it’s her responsibility.

I spoke with a program director today and she advised on how they’ll take better steps to avoid from happening again. I lost a lot of trust, so I hope they will follow through on better care for cats & better treatment towards potential adopters.

Extremely bad experience with this organization. I found a very friendly stray cat walking on the sidewalk a few houses down from me. He was too friendly to be a street cat and I had never seen him before in my neighborhood so I took him inside and took him to the vet to be scanned for a microchip.
The microchip was registered to Anjellicle Cats Rescue. Called them to let them know I had found one of their cats on the street. They said it was impossible because the microchip ID number belonged to a Russian Blue living in PA and hung up on me. I live in Queens NY and the cat is not a Russian Blue. I don’t know how many more ID’s they have mixed up.

This is a really great organization. We fostered three cats and ended up adopting our third foster cat. Anjellicle really cares about the cats they take in. They made sure all of the cats were healthy with vet visits, paired us with appropriate foster cats for our experience levels, gave us a seminar on how to take care of cats, and more. They are pretty serious about vetting potential adoptees and fosterers, and also about making sure apartments are safe for cats with window screens/plants/etc, but that's because they really want the best for all of their cats. Highly recommended!
Be cautious when you deal with particularly notorious 'crazy' cat ladies, especially Ellen who is INCREDIBLY RUDE, problematic, condescending.
I remember Nora from Anjellicle at Petco lied and told me that there was no public restroom at the basement of Petco. When I asked her if there was a restroom as we were both going to the restroom. She told me to go across the street at Tjmaxx to use the restroom there. Because she and I both wanted to use the restroom at the same time. So lame! Later, an employee of Petco had no problem telling me Petco indeed has a rest room, which was what I thought!
