Took my girlfriend here for an early Valentine’s day dinner and we both had a great time! We both got the Chef’s Tasting Menu which is $110 per head which can be pricey for most people. It was a special occasion so I didn’t mind.
The pre course was Soy Ginger Pork Belly which was delicious at every bite. Perfect blend of taste and not too fatty. It was a nice start to the meal.
The first course was Atlantic Salmon which tasted perfect. I really enjoyed the sauce, mad delicious stuff.
The second course was an assortment of sushi’s. Minami Roll, Aburi Salmon Oshi, Aburi Ebi Sushi, Aburi Hamachi Oshi, three pieces of chef selected Aburi Nigiri. Each sushi tasted amazing, didn’t even really need the house made soya sauce, and I’m the type of guy that prefers soya sauce dipped for every piece of sushi.
The third course me and my girlfriend tried both types:
- Soy Braised Short Rib
- Saikyo Miso Baked Sablefish
The dessert ended off the dinner w a dark chocolate cake paired with mango passion fruit sorbet, which both were sweet enough but not too sweet which was perfect.
Only reason this place doesn’t get a 5 star is because the prices are expensive in all honestly. Food was really good, but portions weren’t the biggest for what you’re paying for. This is more of an upscale place for work meetings, celebration, and special dinners if you don’t mind dishing out more money than usual. Overall great job! Our server was really nice and he explained every dish as they were served which was very nice during our experience here.

We came here for their winterlicious dinner menu. $65 per person for a 3 course menu. We love the food; it is fresh, delicious with upscale style. We ordered their Minami roll and love the combination of truffle and wagyu beef. The Miso x Caramel x Espresso is lovely.
Went to Minami last week and tried their Winterlicious menu - it's fantastic! $65 for dinner, you get a three-course meal that's totally worth it. They've got dishes like Aburi Sushi, Wagyu Tartare, and AAA Beef Tenderloin that were all delicious. And don't even get me started on the dessert - chocolate and sorbet that were just perfect.
Our server Joy was incredible, really made our night special. The bartenders were super cool too, inviting us to make drinks with them and showing off their cocktail skills. Every bite of food was amazing, and I'd eat here every day if I could.
Highly recommend trying the Winterlicious menu at Minami. Great food, great people. Can't wait to go back!

Went here for a double date night on a Tuesday. First time coming here. Ambience was nice and romantic for couples. We decided to order a few things to share off the menu.
Fantastic quality of food, everything was so incredibly delicious! The flavours were well balanced. The portions are a bit smaller, but the quality was there. The drinks were also great and i would recommend getting their espresso martini, if I could get their recipe and make it, I would, it is so darn good, one of the best I've ever had!
The server came by often to check on us and filled the water often. They were polite and pleasant. Pricier for sure, however if you're looking for a nice date night or a gathering with friends, I definitely recommend trying this place. It is also right by the theatre so a nice dinner to go to prior to a show or after.

This is a great place to have Japanese food in the heart of Toronto.. The food was amazing.. Slightly westernized japanese food makes you crave more. The portion sizes are reasonable as well.
The signature sushi platter is slightly on the smaller side, but it is fresh and delicious. The chicken dishes were amazing, with portion size being generous. The desserts were also great.
It is a great place to hang out, carry out business lunches, or just dine in. The servers go the extra mile to ensure that you are taken care of. They also explain the dishes, making you aware of the dishes you have ordered.
This cozy place, with great foods and service, gets a solid 4 stars. The only reason it does not get a 5 is because of its upscale pricing.. It could cost 50 cad per person for a meal here.

Minami is a delightful discovery for any food lover in Toronto. The restaurant presents a captivating blend of traditional and contemporary Japanese cuisine. The menu is diverse, offering something for everyone, from exquisite sushi rolls to delectable cooked dishes. The flavors are rich, and every dish is presented beautifully, demonstrating the chef's attention to detail. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a romantic dinner or a special occasion. Exceptional food, lovely atmosphere, and courteous staff - Minami is an absolute must-visit!
Great experience overall! Incredible food and good value.
Food:
The four-course tasting menu offered a lot for the price. The appetizer trio was light and balanced – a great start to the experience. The subsequent sushi plate was excellent. Each piece had a unique combination of flavours and the ingredients used were all flawless. The Minami roll and hamachi were especially notable.
The main course was very thoughtfully designed and was executed very well. The mushrooms were definitely the star of the dish and, paired with the sauce, had a very rich flavour that was very unique. The desert also showed a lot of finesse and the chocolate sponge was balanced nicely by the mango and passion fruit
Service:
The staff was friendly and accommodating. Service was fast and overall hospitable.
Atmosphere:
The interior was modern and spacious and the lighting was moody but not too dark. However, the bathroom was average at best.
Overall, a great restaurant with a stand-out tasting menu for a reasonable price. Would go again.

Great experience! The sushi here is amazing, best sushi I’ve eaten to date. The presentation of each dish was meticulous. It was evident that the chef uses high quality ingredients and creative techniques to create a combination of flavors and textures that are an unbeatable pleasure sensation to your palette. I went with my wife and son, my wife does not eat sushi, therefore ordered the sukiyaki, as there were not many options for non sushi eaters, unfortunately the sukiyaki fell short of her expectations despite the delightful presentation. The service was adequate and we felt that it could have been warmer and more personable.
Came here with friends to celebrate my birthday. We ordered basically one of everything to share. Excellent service, food and ambience. This place isnt cheap btw so prepare your wallet. Its very good but not the type of place you want to go to if you want your fill. Most options were small plates and bite sized. I really enjoyed the oyster sampler, the soft shelled crab, a5 wagyu shabu shabu and the wagyu wrapped scallops. Their premium luxe sushi platter was delicious but a bit overpriced for what it was, excellent uni though. We also tried some house made cocktails, those were very good. We tried all three dessert options and even though im not a chocolate fan, oh man it was sooo good. Honestly, I would come back here and recommend it for a nice special intimate dinner date.
Entrees here are incredible, sushi is very much average (the torched ones especially so).
Sablefish is as amazing as ever and one of the best fish dishes in the city. Chicken was also cooked to perfect texture and had a spot on balance of sweet and savory. Soft shell crab was not overly fried with a delicate crust and very fitting seasoning.
Signature roll was not my cup of tea, and the torched sushi is not a substantial enough jump to differentiate it from suburban joints.

Had a private dining experience at Minami to celebrate my wedding and am SO happy with how everything went! The food and drinks were phenomenal (all of my guests were extremely impressed) and the service and all the staff were wonderful... Li-Chen was also so helpful and accommodating and really showed us that the restaurant appreciated our business. The interior of the restaurant is so beautiful and elegant, as well.
I had originally tried to find a private dining experience elsewhere but felt like other places couldn’t care less… SO happy we found Minami and very grateful to them. Food, atmosphere and service were all 10/10. Highly recommend them for a private dining experience or just regular dining! We’ll all be coming back. :)

Some items better than others. The a5 beef carpaccio was seemed to be oxidized a bit and lacking flavour. The waygu and scallops were amazing. Service and ambience were great. Would still highly recommend trying it out.
A stunning new spot for sushi! Minami is originally from Vancouver so I was excited to see it come to Toronto. Went there for my birthday with a group of 10 and it did not disappoint. The sushi and cocktails were phenomenal. We also tried the wagyu skewers on special which were incredible. Our service was also really attentive and knowledgeable. I liked how there was space to move around, the restaurant felt inviting upscale and relaxed. Also appreciated how the staff didn’t make you feel rushed (a rarity in Toronto) This is your spot for your next date, birthday or celebration.
I’ve been to Minami several times and each time has been an excellent experience whether it’s the atmosphere, the service, or the food and drinks.
I tried the chef’s tasting menu with the beverage pairing and highly recommend it. Each course was a different experience from the sashimi, the steak and lobster, the sushi, and the chocolate cake.
I’d say the beverage pairings worked well with each dish, except the sushi course. I found the sake too sweet for it.

only ~$40 for each person for delicious high quality food!!! it was super worth it as the restaurant was super art deco looking and served unique sushi and side dishes. we went for mother’s day and the special was so cool yet not a tiny speck of fish on a huge plate. the manager was also so cool and took pics of our group for us :)
