The restaurant has been present since 1982 with the same owner -- Sergio.
The menu has ample choices with multiple specials available with a broad range of choices, from sea food to chicken to meat, including multiple pasta dishes. The pasta is homemade.
In addition, there are multiple appetizers available as well as salads
If you are still hungry by the desert, there is always cannoli and tiramisu as well as other choices.
All in all a very good choice for Italian food in the Vienna area.

This place was amazing and I can’t believe I have never been until tonight. Very old school original feel. Food, wine, apps, dessert were all so great.
I love eating at the tables in the bar. Great atmosphere. People are having fun, and there is a nice buzz, but not too noisy. It’s a nice, homey feel in there. Great chianti and traditional, cheese filled or drenched pasta. Some creative and delicious cocktails too. Service can be a little slow when busy, but not terrible, and you can get the server’s attention when she flits by, because the bar area isn’t huge. After a 20 year absence, I’ve been back 3x in the last year, and it is as great as I remembered.
My favorite place to eat Italian food outside of Rome and Tuscany!! The service is outstanding as well.
Old school Italian restaurant reminiscent of golden days when ppl dressed up for dining out right in Vienna where Sergio has been greeting patrons for 40 yrs! As you walk in, the entrance is adorned with photos of who’s who near and far. The restaurant is a time capsule of so much Italianess, one is transposed to Moonstruck. Our lunch was excellent where we dined on veal, seafood pasta, filet carpaccio and a bottle of Brunello. They served warm bread with olive and sun dried tomato tapenade, both excellent, that came with cheese, compliments of the house. After dinner we were gifted vanilla biscotti which were perfection. We opted not to finish our meal off with limoncello, since we both had to be back in the office, lol. This is a FANTASTIC place!
I hesitate to review because I want this place all to myself... Bonarati is a traditional "old school" Italian restaurant. Linen Tablecloth, fresh bread with seasoned olive oil for dipping, and excellent wine coupled with great service make it my choice for good friends, special occasions or just good food. You will not find better service or more genuine Italian cuisine. The owner Sergio is a class act and was attentive from start to finish. Enjoy a carafe of wine with your favorite companion make for a one-of-a-kind dining experience. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present. You will not be disappointed! And reasonable prices!
We've been a customer for decades. Best Italian restaurant around. Great for 2 or for large group.
Nice ambiance, great staff, and wonderful owner. Food is delicious. Cozy bar. Extensive menu and wine list. Prices reasonable. Service is customized to what you want, i.e. quick in and out or casually paced.
We go there for special occasions. It's always a joy when we go.

There were many appetizer dishes to share, and the food was delicious, especially the pasta carbonara. We ordered all the appetizers to try out and were too full for the main course, but we will do it next time we return for more.
The price is great, really reasonable compared to DC overcharging these days. Excellent customer service! The restaurant decor is cozy and lovely, really homey.
I'm so glad to have an authentic Italian nearby our home, only 15 minutes from Mclean vs. 35-45 minutes to Washington DC with traffic jams.
Recommend making a reservation ahead of time, especially on the weekend.
