Never rent an apartment from this company. 945 5th Ave- they cut hours for staff and lose packages.

Rudin Management is probably one of the most difficult property management companies to deal with in NYC.

Do not rent an apartment from Rudin. They raised the rent 30% which is the same as evicting tenants as another reviewer said. According to Streeteasy, my unit on another floor is going for over $5K. I'm curious if they end up raising the rent that high for my specific unit (which would be a 53% hike from what I paid!). This is for an apartment with ZERO amenities apart from laundry in building, elevator and dishwasher (the basics for a midtown apartment). Additionally, they have to shut the water multiple times a year for maintenance, which gets annoying when you're WFH. Elevators also frequently didn't work.

On top of that, they deducted money from my security deposit for basic cleaning (ie. normal wear and tear) after a rushed, unscheduled pre-move inspection. I've lived in NYC my entire life and have always had my full deposit returned to me. Not only are they charging egregious rents, but they're also trying to nickel and dime you on your way out the door. Unbelievable.

This review is for their management team. The building staff were all friendly and professional.

I went to view two different Rudin-managed apartments this week. Both times the Rudin reps left me hanging. First time, Kleo (last name unknown) said she'd leave a key with the doorman at 70 W 93rd but did not. No apology and no explanation. Second time, Damien Palacios stood me up at 241 CPW. So disorganized and disrespectful!

This is how they do business, so it's no wonder their buildings get such poor reviews.

If you plan to rent an apartment from Rudin then look elsewhere. You are better off renting from another management company such as Glenwood. My experience with Rudin was very bad to say the least. They are rude, not accommodating, and unhelpful. I lived at one of their nicer buildings on the UES for two years. During this time there were about 20 roaches/water bugs in my apartment. I contacted management after every incident but unfortunately found that their management team was incapable of handling or fixing the problem. Every time I called, I was pushed to another staff member who was unable to help. Attached to this review are a handful of photos. I have a lot more photos and videos.

We spent 1/4 of the past year without access to the elevator that goes to laundry room, leaving us with only one elevator. And now it is out of order again. Many of us are Seniors and have had to climb steep stairs with laundry, pack ourselves like sardines with no masks into 1 elevator in the middle of pandemic, they do not protect their tenants from harassment , I can go on and on. And now they want to raise my rent 50%, Not the neighbor-friendly Rudin they pretend to be.

Shameful! I was trying to sell a chair on marketplace. I was contacted by Maria to purchase the chair for $280. She offered to pay $50 for me to hold the chair until Thursday. She also agreed to pay by Cashiers check. I restated the terms and that it would need to be a cashiers check. Three weeks later she reached out stating she would have it mailed that week and send me a routing #. Another week and she finally sent me a routing#. I finally received a check off of Citibank for over $1600. It was a check and not a cashiers check. The envelope and the check were both from Rudin Management. There are to many scams and people trying to get banking info or having people cash checks that turn out to be bad checks. I returned the check to the company in the envelope they sent it to me in. I replied to the response by Maria and explained I was returning it as it was not per our terms. She never replied. Instead her account is now disappeared. Shady business practices if you ask me.

What more can I say for Rudin’s management team than class, professionalism, responsiveness, and kindness. After hearing horror story after horror story from friends & colleagues about their NYC landlords, I was concerned I would end up in a similar boat. I could not have been more wrong. Rudin’s entire staff is a true testament to what being a great landlord is all about. From Joe (GM), Marco (Super), and the amazing doormen, I have the utmost respect for everyone affiliated with Rudin. They are a class act across the board and have solved all of my living needs from utilities, maintenance, financial, and more. If you are looking for a great NYC landlord, Rudin is the way to go!
