Big Bowl Schaumburg
2024 Jun 02
Been a while since I was at Big Bowl since our last experience was not too good. We decided to give them another try. Went on a Sunday for a late lunch. It was not too crowded and we were seated immediately.
Last time we did the Stir Fry "Do it Yourself" Bowl so this time we decided to order off the menu. We would totally recommend doing this. Their menu is huge plus they have a Gluten Free menu!
Started with a Sapporo Draft Beer and a Pomegranate Sangria. Tasty drinks but prices are a little high in my opinion.
My wife had the Gluten Free Beef and Broccoli and I had the Teriyaki Shrimp Fried Rice. Portions are huge and the meals came out hot and both were very flavorful.
Plenty of parking available.
For made to order entrees using fresh ingredients, give Big Bowl a try. Part of the Lettuce Entertainment Group.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

A beautiful Botanical Garden located in Belmont NC.
You enter thru a beautiful pavilion with local artwork and stained glass. There are restrooms and a gift shop located in the pavilion.
You can stroll thru over 30 acres of gardens displaying local plants,a children's area, conservatory and trails to explore. We visited between seasons so most of the spring flowers were finished blooming and the summer plants were just being planted.
They were busy at work getting ready for the summer season as the trails were not cut and some of the gardens were closed.
There is plenty of parking and you will pay an admission fee. Membership plans are available.
Definitely worth a visit when in the Charlotte area .

The Hideout

The Hideout is an iconic Chicago bar that opened in the 30s . Located in a 100 year old house, you feel you are in your grandparents basement .
Many musicians started their careers here and is well known within the Chicago music scene.
The venue is small with limited seating . Drinks are reasonably priced with a huge selection of Chicago beers..PBR,Old Style and Hamms just to name a few.
My nephew flew in from Charlotte to play the night I went. A small intimate gathering of friends and family enjoying the music of Low Groves. Absolutely fantastic!
Plenty of street parking available.
For a true music experience ,you have to visit Tte Hideout and experience the vibe and the music.

Classic Cinemas Charlestowne 18 Theatre

Had a free movie ticket from my birthday rewards so went for the 1130am Saturday show of Air. Only about 20 people in the theater.
You buy tickets at the concession area as no one was working the ticket counter.
Concessions are a little pricey for this theatre but probably the norm these days.
The theatre is very clean. Recliner seats and ample leg room.
If you are looking to see movies on the big screen at bargain prices ( Tuesdays only 5.00) this theatre is worth a visit.

Energy City Brewing

Small brewery located about a half mile outside of the town center in Batavia. Seating inside for maybe 50 people. Outside seating was closed due to the cold weather. They do offer tastings of their new "Bistro" series of beers which seemed like they were a hit with everyone. Tried the Blueberry Glazed Donut which was unique but not one of my favorites. Absolutely loved the Pineapple Upside Down Cake beer. Good beer to go selection. I wish they had food options or a food truck especially on a Saturday afternoon. Parking available in front of the brewery as well as street parking. Seems like they are not afraid to brew new flavors of beer so definitely a place to go and be adventurous and try a few new beers!
