168 Claypot Chicken Rice
2024 Jul 14
We usually drive past this super packed place situated opposite Sek Yuen restaurant but never really tried cos parking here is a nightmare. Finally came and managed to get both parking space and seat cos we arrived early.
Ordered one big and one small claypot with vegetables and soup. Taste wise good but really nothing spectacular. Compared to our usual claypot rice place, there were less pieces of chicken but the meat here is juicier. The flavour of this is less intense (again comparatively) and I don't feel thirsty after thus I guess less salt or MSG.
The soup was a bit of a disappointment cos our usual place serves double boiled soup and this was like any other soup they have at a chap fan (ie economy rice) stall.
Vegetables no comment cos same-same.

This is the second time my family and I ate their unlimited dim sum here but that's bcos we first went to Concorde and the queue there was crazy. Other than Concorde I think this is one of the very few hotels in which their Chinese restaurant is non-halal and thus was the likely second option.
Food wise, I don't think their dim sum was mind blowing... Grand Harbour was better in my opinion in terms of selection and taste. But this is a treat and luxury for the family and by the looks of the photos below, you can see that we are big eaters - so unlimited (aka buffet) is good 😊 ☺️
Won't recommend if you are looking for high quality dim sum fare but definitely better quality than the usual coffee-shop set ups. And yea, price is definitely on the very high side

Very basic. Nothing to shout about as the place is small and does not have a lot to offer. Perhaps it was also because I visited in the morning and thus the view was just of the city and unlike the night where the city might be lighted up.
Ticket was a bit expensive to me cos there weren't much to see at all. Size of the whole lookout platform was similar to a small apartment.
Perhaps what would be better is to have a separate floor dedicated to the history of Melaka with photos and displays of the notable sites/sights.

Breakfast on the last day I am here. Google reviews seemed good so decided to try a local Hainanese breakfast. Good that they open early too. Drove here cos it's too far to walk 7 early 8 early (iykyk) and it took me just 4mins. Parking in front of the shop is not available but you can make a round to the housing area behind and there's plenty of parking.
The food is good, toast is yummy, coffee flavourful (this is kopi o kosong btw) and soft boiled eggs cooked just right. Opened up the toast and there were generous portions of butter and kaya.
They were serving nyonya kuih as well so chose one ang ku kuih to try. Kuih is fresh, soft and fillings generous.
Good meal in short and value for money but nothing to shout about really, as quality and taste wise, not much difference from some of the kopitiams in KL.
