North End Dog Run

Great, shaded, safe place to get out and stretch your two or four legs.
Not a lot of features but it's nicely shaded/secluded with trees.

Liberty Landing

FOR TOURISTS:
- currently costs $10 per person each way. You can pay online or pay cash on the boat.
-leaves at least every 60 minutes (though I'd verbally verify that with an employee)
-ride to Manhattan is under 10 minutes.
-if you parked in Statue of Liberty Park, NJ, you probably need to be in the "pay" lot unless you are planning to be back to your car within 2 hours.

Meadowood Trailhead

Some pictures and review are misleading. This location is NOT the trailhead for biking. Bikes are not allowed on this section of the trail.
For biking the trailhead is the parking lot 1/2 mile north - near Gunston elementary.

Some info about the advanced bike courses:
1) how to find: You’ll find “Boss” about 1.2 miles in on the south loop (if you start by sticking to the right (past the fallen tree). “Yard sale” is another mile further down the south loop. You can’t miss the entrance to either, there are big signs.
2) The two courses are genuinely intermediate/advanced mountain bike courses. This is not for beginners. That said, most of the individual wood features can be bypassed if they appear to be too difficult. I recommend a slow tour down the course before diving in. (Though the second hairpin wood turn on “Boss” requires good speed or you’ll slide off (ouch!)
3) because the features are wood, do not attempt the courses after any recent rain.
4) wear a helmet (duh) and any additional needed protective gear. (There’s no shame on this course; it’s what the pros do)

Do yourself a favor and pull over here on your road trip. Even if you just walk around outside for for some fresh air and scenery or learning.
