A moderate out-and-back 2.8 mile nature trail featuring two small waterfalls plus a magnificent one at the very end. In the middle is an incline with stone steps making it a slight workout. Lots of moss-covered rocks and various seasonal flowers can be spotted along the way. Old shoes are recommended as there are two creek crossings and possible mud puddles on the trail (depending on rainfall).

It's splendor has not diminished after all these years! And the pipe organ "Big Berta" still sounds incredible. Highly recommend catching any show here.
Despite the pouring rain, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this historical site. It has the right balance between pure nature and accommodations. After parking by the picnic area and restroom facilities, a broad path leads up a slight hill to the historic buildings with interesting information on its past. Heading back up the main entrance road is the trailhead to a nice pond and continuing about 1.5mi down to Station Cove Falls, which are quite spectacular!

Well you are definitely "out there" in nature when visiting Bearden Falls. There are no signs, buildings, or organized parking but I did see about 4 or 5 designated camping areas on Nimblewill Gap Rd (half of which is gravel).
GPS is spot on in taking you right to the trailhead which curves to the left. It's a wide enough trail to fit a car for the first half mile. Then, you will cross the creek no less than 8 times to get there. Rocks, branches, and fallen trees are visible for crossing but caution is advised as they can be a little unstable and slippery. I managed to come back with dry feet so it is possible...but my shoes were quite muddy!
As soon as you hear the falls, the path goes straight up, giving you a slight workout! The waterfall is majestic and one of the taller ones I've seen so far. Tree branches interfere with a perfect view during summer months but the cool myst is very refreshing.
Sims Lake Park

Very scenic area with a smooth paved walking path just over 1 mile surrounding the entire park. In the center is a sizable lake with a water fountain and observation pier. A play area for children and picnic tables are also present near the front. Various landscape and habitat projects appear to be underway along the trails as well. Saw a wide variety of birds as well as a few deer on my last visit.
